What is on this factory radios hub?

How do I know which factory radio my Harley has?
It comes down to model year: 1999–2005 touring bikes ran an AM/FM cassette or CD deck, 2006–2013 got the Harman/Kardon Advanced Audio unit, 2014–2018 ran Boom! Box 4.3 or 6.5 GT, 2019–2026 standard touring runs Boom! Box GTS, and 2023.5+ CVO, 2024+ touring, and 2026 trikes run Skyline. Use our fitment finder to confirm your exact bike.
Which factory Harley radios have Apple CarPlay?
Only two: Boom! Box GTS (2019–2023 standard touring, 2023.5 CVO, 2025 trikes) and Skyline (2023.5+ CVO, 2024+ touring, 2026 trikes). Every earlier factory radio — the 1999–2005 deck, the 2006–2013 Harman/Kardon unit, and the 2014–2018 Boom! Box 4.3/6.5 GT — has no CarPlay at all.
Why can’t I just plug in and use CarPlay on my GTS or Skyline?
Harley‑Davidson locks factory CarPlay behind a paired Bluetooth headset — no headset, no CarPlay, even though the screen and hardware fully support it. A HogPlay bypass removes that headset requirement so CarPlay and USB work through the bike’s own speakers and controls.
Do any factory Harley radios support Android Auto?
No. GTS and Skyline are Apple CarPlay only — Harley never enabled Android Auto on either one, and the older four generations predate CarPlay and Android Auto entirely. Android Auto only comes to a Harley through a HogPlay Piglet or an aftermarket radio built for it.
What does a HogPlay bypass actually do?
It unlocks the factory Apple CarPlay and USB that are already built into your GTS or Skyline radio, without requiring a paired headset first. It only works on GTS and Skyline — the four older factory radios never had CarPlay to unlock. Shop bypass adaptors or start at fitment to find yours.
I have a GTS or Skyline bypass — how do I add Android Auto?
Pair a HogPlay Piglet with your bypass. It adds wireless Android Auto plus Mirror Link and AirPlay on top of the unlocked CarPlay, so both Android and iPhone riders get full smartphone integration through the factory screen.
What does a Media Box add to a bypassed GTS or Skyline?
A Media Box adds built‑in wireless streaming apps to your unlocked factory radio — music and navigation without needing your phone plugged in or even connected. Pair it with your bypass for the fullest factory‑screen experience.

My Harley has one of the older radios with no CarPlay — what are my options?
You have two paths: swap in an aftermarket CarPlay radio that fits your dash, or add a bar‑mounted HogPlay Media Screen and keep your factory radio exactly as it is. There is no bypass for these four generations — a bypass only unlocks CarPlay that already exists, and these radios never had it.
What is a HogPlay Media Screen and who is it for?
It’s a bar‑mounted touchscreen that adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto to any Harley, whether or not it has a factory radio — ideal if you own a 1999–2018 bike and want to keep your original radio in place rather than replace it. See Media Screens.

Should I get a bypass or swap in an aftermarket radio?
If you have a GTS or Skyline, a bypass is almost always the better call — it unlocks the CarPlay you already paid for without touching your dash. If you have one of the four older radios with no CarPlay at all, compare a Media Screen (keeps your factory radio) against an aftermarket radio (replaces it) — note aftermarket radios only fit pre‑Skyline bikes.
