Headset Bypass Required

A headset bypass is required for any CarPlay, Android Auto or Media Box solution on Indian screens.

Factory CarPlay is locked behind a paired headset — the head unit wants the headset's microphone, so it simply will not run without one paired. The USB port is restricted the same way, which is why a Piglet or a Media Box does nothing on a stock bike no matter what you plug in. A HogPlay headset bypass removes that requirement, so CarPlay and the USB port work without a headset paired. The bypass comes first; everything else depends on it.

Frequently asked questions

What infotainment system comes on Indian Motorcycle models?

Indian equips its touring lineup — Chieftain, Roadmaster, Challenger, and Pursuit — with Ride Command, the brand’s factory display and navigation system. See how your specific model breaks down on the Ride Command model page.

Which Indian models have Apple CarPlay?

MY2020 and newer Chieftain, Roadmaster, Challenger, and Pursuit models with the 7″ Ride Command display come with factory wired Apple CarPlay. Older bikes and trims with the smaller 4″ display don’t get CarPlay at all — check your exact year and trim on the model page.

Does Indian Ride Command support Android Auto?

No — Ride Command has never offered factory Android Auto on any Indian model. Riders who want Android in the cab need HogPlay’s Piglet adapter to add it on top of the existing display.

Why won’t my Indian’s CarPlay turn on?

Ride Command gates CarPlay behind a paired Bluetooth headset — without one connected, the CarPlay icon simply won’t activate, even on bikes that technically support it. HogPlay’s USB–C bypass removes that requirement so CarPlay runs with or without a headset.

What does the HogPlay USB–C bypass do for Ride Command?

It unlocks factory wired CarPlay on 7″ Ride Command bikes without requiring a paired headset first — plug in and go. Browse the bypass collection for your year and model.

What is the Piglet and what does it add?

The Piglet is HogPlay’s compact USB adapter that layers Android Auto, Mirror Link, and AirPlay onto Ride Command — capability the factory system never included. It works alongside the bypass on bikes that already have CarPlay. See Piglet options.

What does the HogPlay Media Box add to an Indian?

The Media Box brings in-app streaming to Ride Command, giving riders more media flexibility than the factory setup supports on its own. Pair it with the bypass or Piglet as needed — see the Media Box collection.

My Indian only has the small 4″ display — can I still get CarPlay?

Yes. Trims and older models with the 4″ Ride Command display don’t have factory CarPlay hardware, but a HogPlay Media Screen adds a bar-mounted CarPlay display to those bikes without touching the stock dash.

More questions (5)

What is the HogPlay Media Screen?

It’s a bar-mounted display that adds full Apple CarPlay to Indian models that either lack CarPlay entirely or only have the small 4″ screen. It’s the go-to fix for bikes the factory left without a CarPlay-capable display — browse Media Screens.

How do I know which HogPlay product fits my Indian?

It comes down to what your bike already has: 7″ Ride Command with CarPlay needs the bypass (and optionally the Piglet for Android Auto), while a 4″ display or no CarPlay at all calls for a Media Screen. Run your exact year and model through the fitment finder to confirm.

Which Indian motorcycles does HogPlay support?

HogPlay covers Ride Command–equipped Chieftain, Roadmaster, Challenger, and Pursuit models across their model years, with the correct product depending on display size and CarPlay availability. Confirm your specific bike on the fitment finder or the Ride Command model page.

Where can I see full details for my specific Indian model and year?

The Ride Command model page breaks down CarPlay and Android Auto availability year by year, plus which HogPlay products apply to each configuration.

What’s the honest bottom line on Indian Ride Command and CarPlay?

Factory Ride Command gives wired CarPlay on newer 7″ models only, no Android Auto ever, and locks CarPlay behind a headset pairing — not exactly plug-and-play. HogPlay’s bypass, Piglet, Media Box, and Media Screen fill those gaps depending on what your bike shipped with; start with the fitment finder to find your fix.
