In its second and final model year, the Ultra Classic Low kept the same formula: full dresser bodywork and touring hardware on a chassis dropped down for easier reach at stoplights. The 2016 bike carried over the Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen, with its GPS and Bluetooth audio, but Harley still hadn't added Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to any factory radio at this point — that came years later, and only on the GTS. HogPlay fills that gap now with a wireless CarPlay and Android Auto path built around either a new radio or a factory GTS swap.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2016 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Low ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

The 2016 Ultra Classic Low's low-slung ergonomics made it a favorite for riders who wanted the touring experience without the taller Ultra Limited's reach, and today those same owners are looking to modernize the dash rather than the suspension. Wanting Google Maps or Apple Maps, Spotify and hands-free texting on a ten-year-old touchscreen is a reasonable ask — the 6.5 GT just can't deliver it out of the box.
An aftermarket CarPlay radio from SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Diamond Audio, Boss or Aquatic AV solves it directly, since most of these units include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto onboard with no headset bypass needed for the swap. If a Harley-branded touchscreen matters more, swap the factory Boom Box for a 2019-2023 Boom! Box GTS and pair it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor to unlock the GTS's built-in CarPlay and USB port.
On the new radio, a HogPlay Media Box layers in Android Auto alongside Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music and podcasts, playing off an SD card or USB stick with no phone data used. Prefer a smaller piece of hardware? A HogPlay USB Piglet adds Android Auto plus AirPlay and Mirror Link mirroring in a compact form. HogPlay also offers a bar-mounted Media Screen for bikes keeping their stock head unit, though on a 2016 Ultra Classic Low most riders find replacing the radio itself the more direct fix.
