The 2016 CVO Street Glide carries Harley's flagship touring features and the familiar Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen, which handles music and calls fine but has no path to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto out of the box. The 2016 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). The 2016 CVO Street Glide is a heavyweight, feature-packed bagger, and its Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen was still one of the better factory infotainment setups on any motorcycle at the time. It just wasn't built for smartphone mirroring — no Apple CarPlay, no Android Auto, factory or otherwise.
Aftermarket CarPlay radios solve that directly. Options from Aquatic AV and SoundStream generally include both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in a single head unit sized for the factory fairing opening, and since it's a complete radio swap, there's no headset bypass to install. If you'd rather chase the newer factory look, swapping to a 2019-2023 GTS radio and adding a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor unlocks that unit's built-in CarPlay and USB port.
Either way, pairing the new radio with a HogPlay Media Box adds Android Auto plus Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, and podcasts from an SD card or USB drive, no phone data burned. The USB Piglet covers Android Auto with Mirror Link and AirPlay mirroring in a smaller footprint, and a bar-mounted Media Screen is available for riders who want a second display, though most who already have a head unit choose to replace the radio instead.
