About 1999 Harley-Davidson Softail & Cruiser Models

Nineteen model names carried the Softail and cruiser badge in 1999, spanning the Twin Cam-era Fat Boy and Heritage Springer down to the entry 883 Hugger and dirt-tracker-styled MT500. None of them rolled off the line with a stereo. Harley kept these bikes analog by design — no fairing, no dash cubby, no wiring harness for a radio. Whatever sound a rider wanted, they built it themselves, usually a saddlebag box wired straight to the battery. That's the opposite problem from the touring bikes of the same year, which at least had a factory AM/FM deck to route around.

HogPlay's answer is the Media Screen, a 7-inch bar-mount unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built into the housing — no bypass, no paired module, because there's no factory system to fight. It clamps onto a Wide Glide or a Night Train exactly the way it does on the Fat Boy, and wiring is a single tap into the existing harness. Riders who'd rather keep stock bars clean can mount the same unit on a Super Glide or Standard without touching tank or fenders.
