The 1999 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide kicked off a new era for the platform, landing the very first year the Twin Cam 88 powered the big twin lineup and putting fresh muscle behind that stretched-out, chopper-inspired stance the Wide Glide is known for — forward-mounted forks, low seat, and a stripped-down profile built for open-road cruising. What it never got from the factory was a screen of any kind. Bolt on the 7-inch HogPlay Media Screen and this raked-out '99 finally gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto right on the bars.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 1999 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Debuting Harley's redesigned Twin Cam 88 engine, the 1999 Wide Glide paired that new powerplant with its trademark long rake, narrow leather seat, and drag-style bars — a factory custom that still turns heads decades later. What it left out was any way to run navigation or music through the cockpit, since infotainment wasn't yet part of the conversation.
The HogPlay Media Screen closes that gap without altering the bike's lean look. It mounts to the handlebars in view of the rider, wires to a switched power source and ground, and is fully reversible if you ever want the bars back to bare metal.
Riding a 1999 Wide Glide means turn-by-turn directions and music now live right on the bars via the HogPlay Media Screen. Dual Bluetooth lets you pair your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on one channel while the second channel feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker for real volume. A small built-in speaker handles voice prompts and light audio on its own if you'd rather keep things simple. Fully sealed and waterproof, the unit is built rugged enough to shrug off rain, road grime, and vibration mile after mile.
