The 2018 Road Glide Special closed out the Twin-Cooled Milwaukee-Eight era before Harley's 2019 GTS redesign, still running the familiar Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen. That radio handled navigation and calls capably in its day, but it never gained Apple CarPlay or Android Auto from the factory. No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2018 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

The 2018 Road Glide Special was the last model year before Harley's 2019 GTS redesign, still built around the Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen that had served this fairing since 2015. It's a capable radio for navigation and calls, but it stops short of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto - nothing Harley shipped in the 6.5 GT ever ran either.
Two upgrade paths get you there. Replace the head unit with an aftermarket CarPlay radio - Diamond Audio and Aquatic AV both offer options sized for this dash - and you typically get wireless CarPlay and Android Auto in one box, no headset bypass involved since that only applies to keeping the factory radio. Or swap up to a 2019-2023 GTS unit and pair it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor to unlock the GTS's factory CarPlay and USB port on your 2018 bike.
