Android Auto, CarPlay & Streaming Apps for 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special

| Factory code | FLHXS |
|---|---|
| Engine | Milwaukee-Eight 107 |
| Factory radio | Boom! Box 6.5 GT |
| Factory CarPlay / Android Auto | None from factory — add via an aftermarket radio or a GTS swap |
| Factory USB | USB-A (media / charge only) |
The 2017 Street Glide Special was the first year to get the Milwaukee-Eight engine, giving the Special's touring package noticeably more low-end torque without changing the Boom! Box 6.5 GT it carried over. That factory touchscreen is still limited to Harley's own menus and Bluetooth - no Apple CarPlay, no Android Auto. HogPlay fixes that with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, added through an aftermarket radio or a GTS-based swap.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

2017 was the debut year for the Milwaukee-Eight in the Street Glide Special, and while the engine changed, the Boom! Box 6.5 GT infotainment stayed the same - a solid touchscreen for its time, but strictly a factory system with no CarPlay or Android Auto.
Owners chasing CarPlay or Android Auto want the obvious things: real-time navigation, their own streaming accounts, and calls and texts handled hands-free instead of glanced at on a tiny factory screen.
An aftermarket CarPlay radio from SoundStream or Diamond Audio typically brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto onboard together, with no headset bypass needed on this path. Riders who want to stay closer to factory Harley styling can instead swap to a 2019-2023 GTS unit and unlock it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which activates the GTS's built-in CarPlay and USB port. Either way, a HogPlay Media Box adds Android Auto plus Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music and podcasts from an SD card or USB drive, a HogPlay USB Piglet adds Android Auto with Mirror Link/AirPlay mirroring for a smaller footprint, and a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen is an option for riders who want a dedicated second display.
HogPlay Media Boxes work on Diamond Audio, Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, SoundStream and Aquatic AV aftermarket radios to unlock apps, streaming and more — it's not just for factory screens. Running an aftermarket head unit? See the matching aftermarket radio pages.
