By 2017 the Freewheeler had become one of Harley's most recognizable trikes - fixed fairing, wide rear stance, and a factory Boom! Box 4.3 that handled AM/FM and weather band without a touchscreen or a hint of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. HogPlay's wireless upgrade path brings modern motorcycle media to that dash, whether through a new head unit or a later-generation GTS swap.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2017 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler ran the factory Boom! Box 4.3 — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.
We also stock universal parts that fit the 2017 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

The 2017 Freewheeler pairs Harley's low, fixed-fairing trike layout with a fully loaded dash and trunk setup built for two-up, all-day rides. That dash ran the Boom! Box 4.3 that year - a capable AM/FM/weather-band radio, but wired only, with no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto anywhere in its menus.
Riders wanting their phone on that dash have two solid routes. Aftermarket CarPlay head units from brands like Aquatic AV and SoundStream slot into the Freewheeler's fairing and typically bring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto together, with no headset bypass needed on that path - that workaround only matters when keeping the factory radio. The alternative is retiring the 4.3 for a 2019-2023 Boom! Box GTS and pairing it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which unlocks the GTS's factory CarPlay and USB port (Android Auto isn't part of that unlock on its own). A HogPlay Media Box fills that gap and adds Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, and podcasts from an SD card or USB drive, a USB Piglet brings Android Auto plus AirPlay and Mirror Link mirroring in a smaller footprint, and a bar-mounted Media Screen gives riders who already have a head unit a second, rider-facing display instead.
HogPlay Media Boxes work on Diamond Audio, Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, SoundStream and Aquatic AV aftermarket radios to unlock apps, streaming and more — it's not just for factory screens. Running an aftermarket head unit? See the matching aftermarket radio pages.
