2016 Softail & Sportster Cruiser CarPlay Setup

Not a single bike in the 2016 Softail or Sportster-based cruiser lineup — Fat Boy, Low Rider S, and everything between — rolled off the line with a factory stereo, so the CarPlay conversation starts from scratch on every one.

About 2016 Harley-Davidson Softail & Cruiser Models

That blank slate is actually the easy case: a handlebar-mounted Media Screen bolts on to a Street Bob, a Breakout, or a Sportster like the Iron 883 without hunting for a dash to modify, since none of them have one.

Fairing-equipped cruisers such as the Fat Bob or the new-for-2016 Slim S can mount the screen up near the windshield for easier glancing, while smaller models keep it low by the risers. A USB piglet adaptor is worth adding if all you want is wired CarPlay running through your existing phone mount, no screen needed.
