The 2016 Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two leans hard into '70s chopper style — a fat 21-inch whitewall front tire, a peanut-sized 2.1-gallon tank, and mini-ape handlebars that put you in a laid-back, arms-up riding position, all driven by the air-cooled Evolution 1200 (1,202cc). What it doesn't have is a factory stereo of any kind. HogPlay's 7-inch bar-mounted Media Screen fixes that with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a built-in speaker, no dash to cut into.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2016 Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2016 Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2016 Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two

The Seventy-Two's whole appeal is that stripped-down, low-slung chopper look, and the Evolution 1200 gives it a torquey, air-cooled pulse that matches the retro attitude. It's a bike built for short blasts and boulevard cruising, not long-haul touring — which is exactly why riders add navigation and music rather than live without them.

The HogPlay Media Screen clamps to the bars in view of the mini-apes, wiring straight to power and ground with no dash, fairing, or factory harness to tap into. It leaves the peanut tank and stance untouched, and unclamps just as easily if you sell the bike or swap it to another ride.

By 2016 the Seventy-Two had found its groove as a low, wide, easy-riding custom, and the HogPlay Media Screen slots into that setup as a clean upgrade rather than an afterthought. Its dual Bluetooth design connects to your phone wirelessly for CarPlay or Android Auto turn-by-turn while, at the same time, a second channel feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable speaker. A built-in speaker covers voice prompts and basic audio on its own when needed. Fully sealed and waterproof, the housing is rugged enough to handle everything the Evolution 1200 dishes out.
