The 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S took the iconic solid-disc-wheel silhouette and backed it with muscle, running the High Output Twin Cam 103 engine for noticeably stronger low-end torque than the standard Fat Boy, wrapped in blacked-out finishes and a stepped-up front end that gave it a harder-edged stance than any Fat Boy before it. Like every Softail of its era, it left the factory with no navigation, no Bluetooth, and no way to run Apple CarPlay. The fix for a 2016 Fat Boy S is the HogPlay Media Screen, a 7-inch bar-mounted display that adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto to a bike that never had a screen to begin with.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S

The Fat Boy S carried its High Output Twin Cam 103 with a genuinely aggressive edge for a factory Softail, more compression and more torque than the base engine, all riding on the same fat 21-inch front tire and blacked-out solid disc wheels that made the model instantly recognizable. It was built to look and pull harder than a standard Fat Boy, but the instrument cluster never got past a simple speedometer, no display, no phone integration, nothing.

Mounting the HogPlay Media Screen on a 2016 Fat Boy S is a clean bolt-up job: it clamps to the handlebars in clear view, taps into a power and ground source, and that's the whole install. No dash cutting, no fairing modification, no dealer visit required. Once it's wired in, the unit pairs wirelessly with a phone for CarPlay or Android Auto, and because the mount is reversible, it can come off just as easily if the bike ever changes hands.

Every 2016 Fat Boy S rider adding a HogPlay Media Screen gets more than a CarPlay mount. The unit runs dual Bluetooth, so one channel pairs your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto while the second feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker for real volume on the road. A small built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own, no external speaker needed to hear directions. And because it's sealed, waterproof, and built rugged from the ground up, it shrugs off rain, road grime, and vibration without a second thought.
