The 2016 Street 500 was Harley-Davidson's answer to the urban rider — a lean, liquid-cooled machine built for stoplight-to-stoplight city miles rather than open-highway cruising. Its Revolution X 494cc V-twin was a clean-sheet design, water-cooled for consistent power in stop-and-go traffic and tuned for an easy, approachable ride that welcomed newer riders into the brand. What it never got was a factory stereo. Add the HogPlay Media Screen and this 2016 Street 500 finally gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto right on the bars.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2016 Harley-Davidson Street 500 left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2016 Harley-Davidson Street 500 and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2016 Harley-Davidson Street 500

Harley aimed the Street 500 at riders who wanted V-twin character without big-bike bulk, and the liquid-cooled Revolution X engine delivered smoother, quieter running than the air-cooled twins in showrooms at the time — a deliberate move to compete for commuters and first-time buyers. It was compact, light on its feet, and easy to live with every day, but Harley kept the cockpit simple, leaving navigation and music entirely up to whatever you could wedge in your jacket pocket.

The HogPlay Media Screen fixes that without touching the bike's wiring harness or dash. The 7-inch display clamps to the handlebars, taps into power and ground, and mirrors your phone wirelessly for CarPlay or Android Auto. Mounting is reversible, so a 2016 Street 500 owner can run it now and pull it clean later with no trace left behind.

Every HogPlay Media Screen mounted on a 2016 Street 500 runs dual Bluetooth, so one channel pairs your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto while the second feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker for real volume down the road. A built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own when you want to keep things simple. The housing is fully sealed and waterproof, engineered to shrug off rain, road grime, and vibration so it holds up to whatever a Street 500 rider throws at it.
