About 1998 Harley-Davidson
The new Road Glide brought Harley's frame-mounted fairing to the touring lineup for the first time, and it shipped with the same basic AM/FM head unit as Electra Glide and Ultra Classic. CVO expanded to two models this year, both carrying that same factory-radio baseline. Road King still had no stereo out of the box, and the Softail & Cruiser side — now including the new Night Train — had no audio wiring whatsoever.
Any 1998 model with a factory fairing, Road Glide included, swaps that stock deck for an aftermarket CarPlay radio for genuine wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, no rewiring required. Models with no factory stereo, from Road King to every Softail, get a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen instead. The CVO family page breaks down exact fitment for both CVO trims that year.
