2022 Indian Chief Family: Screens vs. Ride Command

The 2022 Chief family isn't infotainment-uniform: the base Chief and the blacked-out Chief Dark Horse keep things purely analog with no touchscreen at all, while the Super Chief Limited up top gets Indian's full Ride Command display — so the right CarPlay fix depends entirely on which Chief you're standing next to.

About 2022 Indian Chief Models

Strip away the touring bodywork and the Chief, Chief Dark Horse, and bobbed Chief Bobber Dark Horse all share a simple round gauge with no infotainment screen whatsoever — there's nothing to bypass because Indian never put a computer there to begin with. For these three, a bolt-on HogPlay Media Screen is what adds CarPlay and Android Auto to a bike that was designed without either.

The Super Chief Limited breaks from the rest of the family with a windshield, hard bags, and Indian's Ride Command touchscreen already wired for Apple CarPlay — so instead of a new screen, it just needs a CarPlay bypass adaptor to bring Android Auto onto the display it already has.
