Android Auto, CarPlay & Streaming Apps for 2022 Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse
| Factory code | 56K·DLAB |
|---|---|
| Engine | Thunder Stroke 116 — air-cooled V-twin |
| Factory head unit | No factory options — HogPlay Screen recommended |
| Factory USB location | None |
| Fairing Style | Bobber — no fairing (solo seat, mini-ape bars, 16-inch wheels) |
Stripped to a solo seat and dropped low on 16-inch wheels, the 2022 Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse leans on attitude, not electronics — its single round gauge has no screen, no navigation, and no Apple CarPlay of any kind. HogPlay closes that gap with a 7-inch CarPlay and Android Auto display carrying its own built-in speakers, so maps, calls and music arrive without touching the bobber's minimal lines. It draws power from a universal USB feed and comes off just as cleanly as it went on.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2022 Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

The Chief Bobber Dark Horse pairs Indian's air-cooled Thunder Stroke 116 with a deliberately old-school cockpit: mini-ape handlebars, a solo saddle, and 16-inch wheels front and rear for the classic bobber silhouette. 2022 trim runs in Black Smoke, Sagebrush Smoke and Titanium Smoke — all blacked-out, in keeping with the Dark Horse name. Indian never fitted this bike with a touchscreen or factory CarPlay, so the HogPlay 7-inch CarPlay and Android Auto screen is the direct route to modern navigation and audio; its built-in speakers mean there's no separate stereo to wire in, and the whole kit runs off universal USB power without touching the bike's factory harness.
