Indian revised the Chief platform for 2022, and the Dark Horse trim came along with a bigger engine — the air-cooled Thunder Stroke 111 gave way to the 116, now offered in Stealth Gray, Alumina Jade Smoke or Black Smoke. What didn't change is the cockpit: a single round gauge, no touchscreen, no factory Apple CarPlay or Android Auto anywhere on the bike. HogPlay's 7-inch CarPlay and Android Auto screen, with its own built-in speakers, drops straight into that gap so you get maps, calls and streaming without altering the bike's minimalist face. It runs off universal USB power and unbolts just as easily.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2022 Indian Chief Dark Horse left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. Indian still leaves the instrument panel to a single analog gauge, with no screen and no built-in CarPlay or Android Auto to speak of. HogPlay's 7-inch CarPlay and Android Auto display supplies both the screen and the sound, its built-in speakers standing in for a factory stereo, and it draws power from a universal USB connection rather than any dedicated data port. The install bolts on and comes off without a trace.
