The 2018 Street Glide Special closed out the pre-GTS era of Harley's touring line, still running the Boom! Box 6.5 GT that had anchored the Special's cockpit since 2014. It's a mature, reliable factory touchscreen - just one that never got Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. HogPlay adds both wirelessly, whether through a modern aftermarket radio or a swap to the CarPlay-ready GTS that replaced it in 2019.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2018 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

As the last model year before Harley introduced the GTS infotainment in 2019, the 2018 Street Glide Special represents the Boom! Box 6.5 GT at its most refined - a mature touchscreen system that's still, at its core, a closed factory unit with no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto.
Riders coming from newer cars or bikes with CarPlay know what they're missing: real map data instead of a phone glanced at in a mount, their own music library, and hands-free calls and texts on the move.
An aftermarket CarPlay radio - Rockford Fosgate, Boss and Aquatic AV all build touring-fairing options - usually brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto onboard together, and there's no headset bypass to deal with on this route. Some 2018 owners instead swap up to the 2019-2023 GTS head unit and add a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor to unlock its factory CarPlay and USB port. From there, a HogPlay Media Box adds Android Auto plus Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music and podcast streaming from an SD card or USB drive, a HogPlay USB Piglet adds Android Auto with Mirror Link/AirPlay mirroring, and a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen suits riders who'd rather add a screen than replace the radio.
