The 2017 Ultra Limited introduced Harley's Milwaukee-Eight engine to the touring line, though the dash kept its familiar Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen - capable, but with no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto built in. HogPlay adds wireless versions of both, either through a new radio or by unlocking a newer factory head unit.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2017 Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

New engine, same infotainment: the 2017 Ultra Limited's Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen handled audio, navigation and phone calls well for its generation, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were never part of the factory build. Riders who want app-based navigation or music still have to reach for a phone.
The most direct upgrade is an aftermarket CarPlay radio - Rockford Fosgate and Diamond Audio both build Harley-fit touchscreens with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included, so there's no headset bypass to add on this path.
Prefer to keep things Harley? Swap the Boom! Box for a 2019-2023 GTS radio and add a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor to unlock its factory Apple CarPlay and USB port. Layer in a HogPlay Media Box for Android Auto and streaming - Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, podcasts - from an SD card or USB drive, or a USB Piglet for Android Auto with Mirror Link and AirPlay-style mirroring. A bar-mounted Media Screen is also available, though most riders upgrading a bike that already has a head unit put their money into the radio.
