The 2017 Tri Glide Ultra pairs Harley's touring comfort with a trike's stability, making it a favorite for riders who want more confidence on long hauls. That year's Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen was impressive for its time, but it shipped without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. HogPlay adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto to your Tri Glide, whether you upgrade the head unit outright or add a bypass and Media Box down the line.

No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket

The 2017 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2017 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2017 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra

The 2017 Tri Glide Ultra puts three wheels of stability under Harley's full touring package, which tends to mean longer days on the road and more reliance on navigation, calls and music running through the bars. That year's Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen handled the basics well for 2017, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto simply weren't part of the factory feature set, so phone-based apps always meant a workaround rather than a built-in option.

Swapping in an aftermarket touchscreen radio from a brand like SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio or Aquatic AV is the most direct route to wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, since most of these units include both onboard and no headset bypass is needed on this path. Riders who'd rather keep things closer to stock can swap the Boom! Box for a 2019-2023 GTS unit and add a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which unlocks the GTS's factory CarPlay and USB port (Android Auto still needs one of the options below).

Once the new radio is in, a HogPlay Media Box adds Android Auto plus Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music and podcast streaming from an SD card or USB drive, no phone data required. A HogPlay USB Piglet is a simpler add for Android Auto plus AirPlay and Mirror Link screen mirroring, and a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen is worth a look too - though with a head unit already on the Tri Glide, most riders find upgrading that radio is the more direct move.

HogPlay Media Boxes work on Diamond Audio, Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, SoundStream and Aquatic AV aftermarket radios to unlock apps, streaming and more — it's not just for factory screens. Running an aftermarket head unit? See the matching aftermarket radio pages.
