| Factory code | FLTRU |
|---|---|
| Engine | Milwaukee-Eight 107 |
| Factory radio | Boom! Box 6.5 GT |
| Factory CarPlay / Android Auto | None from factory — add via an aftermarket radio or a GTS swap |
| Factory USB | USB-A (media / charge only) |
2017 brought the Milwaukee-Eight engine to the Road Glide Ultra / Limited, but the Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen stayed the same — a good screen for its day, just one built with no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto inside. HogPlay adds both wirelessly, through an aftermarket CarPlay radio or by swapping in a 2019-2023 GTS unit with a HogPlay bypass adaptor.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2017 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra / Limited ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

2017 brought the Milwaukee-Eight engine to the Road Glide Ultra / Limited, but the cockpit kept the familiar Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen — still no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto from the factory, even with the new powertrain underneath. Riders wanting their phone's navigation, music, and calls on that fairing screen have to look aftermarket.
Installing an aftermarket CarPlay radio from a brand like Rockford Fosgate or Diamond Audio gets there fastest, since most of these units include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard. Some riders prefer to keep the stock radio and bolt on a bar-mounted Media Screen instead, though once a bike already runs a head unit, swapping the radio is generally the simpler path.
For a more factory-styled route, swap the 6.5 GT for a 2019-2023 GTS radio and pair it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which unlocks the GTS's built-in CarPlay and USB port without touching Android Auto. From there, a HogPlay Media Box adds Android Auto along with Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, and podcast streaming from an SD card or USB drive, or a HogPlay USB Piglet adds Android Auto with Mirror Link / AirPlay screen mirroring. No headset bypass is required on the aftermarket-radio route.
HogPlay Media Boxes work on Diamond Audio, Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, SoundStream and Aquatic AV aftermarket radios to unlock apps, streaming and more — it's not just for factory screens. Running an aftermarket head unit? See the matching aftermarket radio pages.
