The 2017 CVO Ultra Limited kept its place as Harley's premium touring flagship, still riding on the Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen rather than the newer GTS unit that would arrive on other models. The 6.5 GT was solid for its time, but no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto came with it. HogPlay adds a wireless path to both, whether you keep the factory radio or move to something newer.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2017 Harley-Davidson CVO Ultra Limited ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). The 2017 CVO Ultra Limited carried Harley's flagship touring trim forward, but the infotainment stayed put — the Boom! Box 6.5 GT touchscreen, with no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto built in. It's easy to assume a touchscreen this capable would include phone mirroring; it simply predates that feature on any Harley.
Two well-worn paths fix it. Replace the 6.5 GT with an aftermarket CarPlay radio — Rockford Fosgate and Boss both make units built for Harley fairings — and you generally get wireless CarPlay and Android Auto together. Or move up to a 2019-2023 GTS head unit and add a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which switches on the GTS's factory CarPlay and USB port (Android Auto is a separate piece on that path).
Round it out with a HogPlay Media Box, which adds Android Auto and streams Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, and podcasts from a USB drive or SD card without touching your phone's data.
