The 2015 Street Glide Special carried over the Boom! Box 6.5 GT as Harley's flagship touring infotainment, now paired with updated Project Rushmore ergonomics and wind protection that made it one of the most comfortable long-haul baggers on the road. The 6.5 GT touchscreen was ahead of its time in 2015, but it never gained Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. HogPlay bridges that gap with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, whether through a new aftermarket radio or a later-generation GTS swap.
No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket
The 2015 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

By 2015 the Street Glide Special's Boom! Box 6.5 GT was a familiar sight on Harley's touring lineup, and Project Rushmore's fairing and vent updates made the cockpit around it more comfortable than ever. The radio itself, though, is factory hardware - no CarPlay, no Android Auto, just onboard menus and basic Bluetooth.
Riders who've gotten used to CarPlay or Android Auto in a car understandably want it on two wheels too - real map data, music from their own accounts, and calls and texts read aloud without ever touching a phone.
An aftermarket CarPlay radio from a brand like Rockford Fosgate or Diamond Audio is the most direct fix, dropping into the fairing with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto already onboard and no headset bypass to fuss with. Riders who'd rather keep a Harley-branded screen sometimes swap up to a 2019-2023 GTS unit and pair it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which unlocks the GTS's built-in CarPlay and USB port. From there, a HogPlay Media Box adds Android Auto along with Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music and podcasts playable straight from an SD card or USB stick - no phone data burned. A HogPlay USB Piglet is the lighter option for Android Auto plus Mirror Link/AirPlay mirroring, and a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen covers riders who want a second screen instead of replacing the head unit.
HogPlay Media Boxes work on Diamond Audio, Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, SoundStream and Aquatic AV aftermarket radios to unlock apps, streaming and more — it's not just for factory screens. Running an aftermarket head unit? See the matching aftermarket radio pages.
