The 2014 Ultra Classic rolled out of Harley's Project Rushmore redesign with a reshaped fairing, refreshed saddlebags, and a real touchscreen dash for the first time, the Boom! Box 6.5 GT. It was a big step up from the button-only radios that came before it, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto weren't part of any Harley radio's feature set that year. HogPlay adds both, wirelessly, either by swapping in an aftermarket touchscreen or stepping up toward a newer GTS-based system.

No Factory CarPlay — GTS Swap or Aftermarket

The 2014 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic ran the factory Boom! Box 6.5 GT — no factory CarPlay or Android Auto. Two ways to add it: swap to a 2019–2023 Boom! Box GTS and add a HogPlay GTS Bypass for wireless CarPlay, or fit an aftermarket CarPlay radio (SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, Aquatic AV). Either way a HogPlay Media Box adds Netflix, YouTube and streaming and a Piglet adds Mirror Link and AirPlay. No headset bypass required.

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2014 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2014 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic

Project Rushmore reshaped the whole touring lineup for 2014, and the Ultra Classic came out of it with a new fairing, restyled saddlebags, and the Twin Cam 103 doing the work under the tank. The Boom! Box 6.5 GT that came with it was the first real touchscreen on this bike, a genuine upgrade over the button radios it replaced. What it never had, in 2014 or any other year, is Apple CarPlay or Android Auto - riders who want turn-by-turn navigation, music apps, and hands-free texting mirrored straight from a phone need to add it aftermarket.

The most direct route is swapping in a touchscreen head unit from a brand like SoundStream or Rockford Fosgate - most of these ship with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto already built in, and because it's a clean aftermarket install there's no headset bypass to fuss with. If you'd rather keep working toward the newer factory look, the alternative is moving to a 2019-2023 GTS radio and pairing it with a HogPlay CarPlay bypass adaptor, which unlocks the GTS's own CarPlay and USB port (Android Auto isn't part of what that bypass itself adds).

Whichever radio ends up in the dash, a HogPlay Media Box layers in Android Auto plus Netflix, YouTube, YouTube Music, and podcasts, playing it all from an SD card or USB drive so no phone data plan gets touched. Want to keep the phone itself in the loop instead? A USB Piglet adds Android Auto along with Mirror Link and AirPlay screen mirroring. And for riders who'd rather not touch the dash at all, a bar-mounted Media Screen is available, though most riders with an existing head unit choose to upgrade the radio itself.

HogPlay Media Boxes work on Diamond Audio, Boss Audio, Rockford Fosgate, SoundStream and Aquatic AV aftermarket radios to unlock apps, streaming and more — it's not just for factory screens. Running an aftermarket head unit? See the matching aftermarket radio pages.
