About 1997 Harley-Davidson

1997's touring bikes changed little from the year before — Electra Glide, Electra Glide Classic, Ultra Classic, and the Ultra Classic with sidecar all ran the same basic cassette/AM-FM head unit behind their fairings. Road King buyers again got a bike with no factory-installed stereo, and the Softail & Cruiser side of the lineup (Fat Boy, Heritage Springer, Low Rider, Wide Glide, the 883 and 1200 Sportsters) had no radio, no speakers, and no wiring for either.

Faired 1997 models take an aftermarket CarPlay radio straight into the factory pocket for real wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, no cutting required. Every unfaired model, Road King included, gets there with a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen instead.
