The 1997 lineup split cleanly into two audio realities. Electra Glides and Road Kings had a basic factory radio, weak by modern standards and completely unaware of Bluetooth, let alone CarPlay. Softail, Dyna, and Sportster riders had it simpler in one sense — there was nothing to remove, because nothing was there. Either way, phone integration is a modern problem being solved on a 29-year-old platform.

For the touring side, an aftermarket CarPlay radio swaps in behind the factory faceplate and finally gives that dash wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For everything else in the 1997 Harley-Davidson lineup, a handlebar-mounted Media Screen does the same job without needing a factory radio bay to work with. Both kits mount using the stock hardware points, so the finished look stays close to how the bike left the factory.
