About 1996 Harley-Davidson
Every 1996 Harley with a front fairing — Electra Glide, Ultra Classic, the lone CVO Road Glide — shipped with a basic AM/FM cassette deck and nothing resembling Bluetooth or CarPlay. Road King buyers that year got a stripped-down bike with no factory stereo mounted at all, and every Softail, Dyna-style Custom, and Sportster on the roster (883, 1200, Fat Boy, Low Rider, Wide Glide, and the rest) rolled off the line with an empty dash and zero wiring for audio.
For the faired models, an aftermarket CarPlay radio drops into that factory opening and adds real wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For everything without a factory stereo — Road King included — a bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen bolts on and does the same job without touching the dash. Check the Electra Glide or Softail & Cruiser family page for exact fitment.
