2022 Indian Chieftain Trims & Android Auto Bypass

Indian's 2022 Chieftain trio — Chieftain, Chieftain Dark Horse, and Chieftain Limited — all share the same fairing-mounted Ride Command touchscreen, which handles Apple CarPlay over a wired connection but has no path to Android Auto in the factory software.

About 2022 Indian Chieftain Models

Whether you're on the standard Chieftain, the blacked-out Chieftain Dark Horse, or the fully-dressed Chieftain Limited, the Ride Command unit underneath is identical across all three, and so is the fix. A CarPlay bypass adaptor reads as a second CarPlay-compatible device to the factory head unit, which is enough to open the door to Android Auto without any new screen.

Because the fix works through the existing USB port, none of the three Chieftain trims need a panel removed or a new mount drilled into the fairing — riders are typically running Android Auto alongside their existing CarPlay within about twenty minutes of install. It's the fastest upgrade path in the Indian lineup precisely because Ride Command already did the hard part.
