The 2026 Chief Dark Horse swaps in a fresh trio of finishes — Black Smoke, Deep Blue Metallic and the satin Heavy Metal — but keeps the formula that's carried the trim for years: an air-cooled Thunder Stroke 116, a single round gauge, and absolutely no factory screen. There's no Apple CarPlay and no Android Auto built in, on any finish. HogPlay closes that gap with a 7-inch CarPlay and Android Auto display that brings its own built-in speakers, running off universal USB power so it adds full smartphone connectivity without ever touching the bike's factory wiring.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2026 Indian Chief Dark Horse left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

For 2026, Indian refreshes the Chief Dark Horse's palette with Black Smoke, Deep Blue Metallic and a new Heavy Metal finish, all built on the same stripped-cruiser stance and air-cooled Thunder Stroke 116 as recent model years. The cockpit is still a single analog gauge — Indian has never fitted this trim with a touchscreen, so there's no factory Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to speak of. HogPlay's 7-inch CarPlay and Android Auto screen supplies both the display and the sound, its built-in speakers standing in for a stereo the bike doesn't have, and it draws power from a universal USB feed rather than any dedicated data port. It mounts up front and comes off clean, no dealer visit required.
