The 2012 Harley-Davidson XR1200X is the flat-track legend translated to the street — a limited-run, factory hot-rod Sportster built to chase the XR-750's reputation, with inverted forks, dual front discs, and a high-output Evolution 1200 V-twin tuned for real bite in the corners. Harley never wired a radio or display into this cockpit; the XR1200X was built for bars and gauges, not infotainment. Add the HogPlay Media Screen to bring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to this 2012 XR1200X without touching its stripped-down attitude.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2012 Harley-Davidson XR1200X left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

The XR1200X sharpened the standard XR1200 formula with fully adjustable Showa suspension, radial-mount Nissin brakes, and a flat-black-and-orange livery that traced straight back to Harley's XR-750 flat-track racers. Under the tank, the Evolution 1200 V-twin was retuned for the XR line with revised cams and induction, giving this Sportster-based machine more urgency than its cruiser siblings.
The HogPlay Media Screen mounts to those bars in place of nothing — there's no factory display to swap out, just a clean handlebar clamp within easy sightline of the rider. Two wires run to power and ground, tucked along the frame, and the mount is fully reversible, so the XR1200X's minimalist stance goes right back to stock if you ever pull it.
Wire up the HogPlay Media Screen on your 2012 XR1200X and you get two independent Bluetooth channels — one paired to your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the other free to feed an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn prompts and light audio on its own, and the whole unit is sealed, waterproof, and rugged enough for whatever this flat-track-bred Sportster gets into.
