The 2012 Harley-Davidson Superlow was built around one number: a 25.5-inch seat height, the lowest in the Sportster lineup, letting shorter riders plant both feet flat and ride with confidence. Power comes from the air-cooled Evolution 883, a light, torquey V-twin matched to the bike's narrow, low-slung stance. Like every Sportster of this era, it left the factory with bare bars — no radio, no screen, nothing. The fix is HogPlay's 7-inch HogPlay Media Screen, which mounts right there and adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through a built-in speaker.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2012 Harley-Davidson Superlow left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

The Superlow's whole design brief was accessibility — a shorter suspension, lower seat, and pulled-back reach that let more riders throw a leg over a Sportster and feel planted at the first stop sign. The 883 Evolution keeps that same easy-going character: air-cooled, mechanically simple, and light on the wallet to maintain. What Harley-Davidson never gave this generation of Sportster was any radio, screen, or infotainment — the analog speedometer and a set of bare bars were the whole cockpit.
Installing the HogPlay Media Screen doesn't change that simplicity. The unit clamps to the existing handlebar, wires straight to power and ground, and needs nothing else — no cutting into the harness, no dash to modify. Since it only taps power and ground, the install is fully reversible if the bike ever goes back to stock.
The 2012 Superlow was built to be approachable, and its Evolution 883 still delivers smooth, confident power today. The HogPlay Media Screen matches that easy-going nature with a fully sealed, waterproof, rugged housing that shrugs off vibration and weather. Dual Bluetooth handles two connections at once: one channel wirelessly links your phone for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the other streams audio to an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small built-in speaker also delivers turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio when you're riding without extra speakers.
