2002 Ultra Classic CarPlay Upgrade

The 2002 Ultra name still spans six builds: Ultra Classic, Ultra Limited, Ultra Classic Shrine, and three sidecar options. Harman/Kardon speakers came standard on this trim level; a way to actually play CarPlay through them absolutely did not, and still doesn't from the factory.

About 2002 Harley-Davidson Ultra Models

Ultra ownership in 2002 bought the loudest, cleanest factory sound Harley made that year — but it was still routed through a legacy AM/FM tuner with no smartphone connectivity whatsoever. The Ultra Sidecar and Ultra Classic Electra Glide with Sidecar (FLHTCUI) used that identical setup, and even the export-only Ultra Classic With Sidecar (Japan) carried the same tuner behind its Harman/Kardon amp.

Because the dash opening is shared across trims, one aftermarket CarPlay radio spec covers the entire 2002 Ultra range, putting real wireless CarPlay behind that premium amp instead of a decade-old tuner. A Media Screen on the bars is the alternative for owners keeping the factory face stock, on the base Ultra Classic or the loaded Ultra Limited alike, with the original amp left completely untouched.
