About 2002 Harley-Davidson Road King Models
2002 brought the roster back up to eight configurations with the new Road King Shrine trim, plus the return of the Road King Police variant that had been dropped the year before. None of that shuffling touched the electronics — every 2002 Road King, civilian or fleet, used the same small nacelle-mounted tuner rather than the fairing-integrated deck found on the Street Glide or Road Glide, simply because there's less dash space to work with on this design.
That tight nacelle is why the Media Screen tends to be the preferred fix on Road Kings — it clamps to the bars above the gauges rather than competing for nacelle space, adding wireless CarPlay and Android Auto cleanly. An aftermarket CarPlay radio sized for the Road King opening is available for riders who'd rather replace the head unit outright, whether that's on a Road King Classic or the Road King Police Escort.
