The 2002 Harley-Davidson 1200 is Sportster in its purest form — no Custom-trim chrome, no Sport-bike bodywork, just the base big-bore Evolution 1200 (1,202cc) bolted into one of the last solid-mounted Sportster frames before Harley switched to rubber engine isolation in 2004. That raw, buzzy connection to the road is the whole point, and it never came with a factory stereo. HogPlay's 7-inch bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen fixes that without touching the bike's stripped-down character — wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto right on the handlebars of your 2002 1200.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2002 Harley-Davidson 1200 left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2002 Harley-Davidson 1200 and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2002 Harley-Davidson 1200

Harley built the base 1200 as the no-nonsense sibling to the 1200 Custom and 1200 Sport — fewer options, less brightwork, the same torquey Evolution V-twin, aimed at riders who wanted big-bore Sportster power without paying extra for looks. That bare-bones approach is exactly why it never got a dash, a fairing, or anywhere to hide electronics.

The HogPlay Media Screen mounts right to your 1200's bars, in easy view and reach. It only needs two wires — power and ground — because there's no factory infotainment harness to splice into; this bike never had one to begin with. Skip a ride where you don't want it and the mount reverses to blank in minutes, leaving the stock cockpit exactly as Harley built it.

The 2002 1200 carries a reputation for being a no-nonsense highway cruiser, and the HogPlay Media Screen was built with that kind of mileage in mind. It runs two Bluetooth channels independently — one for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto from your phone, and a separate one for an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small built-in speaker keeps turn prompts and light audio audible without any pairing at all, and the fully sealed, waterproof, rugged housing stands up to the vibration and weather this Evolution 1200 sees mile after mile.
