The 2001 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide is Dyna at its rawest — that stretched-out 32-degree fork rake, skinny front end, and drag-bar attitude that made the Wide Glide a factory chopper before "factory chopper" was a category. Under the tank sits the Twin Cam 88, still fresh into its run and pumping out the torque that made these Dynas a favorite for stripped-down cruising. What the 2001 Wide Glide never had is a stereo of any kind. Bolt on the HogPlay Media Screen and this Wide Glide finally gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without touching its lean, factory-custom lines.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2001 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Harley built the Wide Glide to look like it rolled out of a custom shop, not a dealership — wide-set forks, a low seat, and just enough chrome on the Twin Cam 88 to remind you it's still a Harley under the attitude. It was never meant to carry a fairing or a dash full of gauges, which is exactly why it never got a factory radio, screen, or navigation of any kind from the factory.
The HogPlay Media Screen fixes that without disturbing any of it. The 7-inch unit clamps to the handlebars in a spot that keeps the Wide Glide's stripped-down profile intact, runs off a simple tap into power and ground, and mounts reversibly so nothing about the bike's original hardware gets modified or drilled. Once it's wired in, the 2001 Wide Glide has full wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — turn-by-turn navigation, calls, and music — on a bike that was built forty years ago without any of it in mind.
Every HogPlay Media Screen built for the 2001 Wide Glide runs dual Bluetooth, so the same unit pairs your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto on one channel while streaming audio out to an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker on the other. A small built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and casual listening right off the mount, no external speaker required. The whole housing is fully sealed and waterproof, built to shrug off rain, road grime, and vibration on a Dyna that was always meant to be ridden hard, not babied.
