By 1997 the Heritage Classic had settled into its role as Harley's nostalgia-forward Softail, running the same Evolution 1340 and the same factory-blank cockpit. Riders got a speedometer and a fuel gauge and nothing more.

The HogPlay Media Screen adds what was always missing: a 7-inch bar-mounted display tied into the bike's electrical system, giving the 1997 Heritage Classic wireless CarPlay and Android Auto without disturbing its vintage look.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic

The Heritage Classic's wide, swept handlebar gives the HogPlay 7-inch Media Screen a clean, natural mounting spot without crowding the speedometer or the classic-styled switches.

The mount taps power and ground near the headlight and is fully reversible, so the bike's factory look stays intact if the screen ever comes off.

On a 1997 Heritage Classic, the HogPlay Media Screen mounts to the bar and quietly modernizes the cockpit. Dual Bluetooth pairs one channel to your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto and a second to an aux amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable speaker, so directions and calls come through clean. A built-in speaker handles prompts solo if you skip the external audio. It's fully sealed and waterproof inside a rugged housing suited to a cruiser built for long rides.
