The 1996 Sportster 1200 Custom dressed up the standard 1200 with a fatter front tire, forward controls, and more chrome, but kept the same bare-bones Evolution 1200 cockpit — no factory screen or stereo anywhere.
The HogPlay Media Screen adds what the factory never did: a 7-inch bar-mounted touchscreen wired to power and ground, bringing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the 1996 1200 Custom.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 1996 Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. The 1996 Sportster 1200 Custom picks up real connectivity with the HogPlay Media Screen. Dual Bluetooth handles your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto on one channel and an aux amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker on the other. A small built-in speaker takes care of turn-by-turn prompts by itself. The housing is fully sealed, waterproof, and rugged, matched to a cruiser meant to be ridden hard and put away wet.
