The 1996 Sportster 1200 stepped up from the 883 with a torquier Evolution 1200 V-twin but kept the same bare cockpit — no factory stereo, no screen, nothing beyond gauges and idiot lights. Harley wouldn't put a touchscreen on a Sportster for another two decades.
