Part of what makes the Springfield appealing is its quick-change windshield and hard bags, letting one bike cover both open-highway touring and shorter rides — but the Ride Command unit underneath doesn't flex the same way for phone software, offering CarPlay to wired iPhones and nothing at all to Android users.
A CarPlay bypass adaptor installed at the existing USB connection point resolves that gap, letting Android Auto ride alongside CarPlay on the same touchscreen the Springfield already has. No drilling, no new screen, no change to the quick-detach windshield hardware it's known for.
