Every 2017 Harley-Davidson Road King — from the base Road King to the Road King Special — left the factory with a Boom! Box 4.3 or Boom! Box 6.5GT radio. That's a year before Harley's GTS system brought factory Apple CarPlay, so adding it here means choosing one of two upgrade paths.

About 2017 Harley-Davidson Road King Models
Option one is a GTS retrofit: drop in a 2019-2023 Boom! Box GTS unit and add the HogPlay GTS Bypass to keep full-speed CarPlay running while riding. Option two skips the swap — install an aftermarket CarPlay radio from SoundStream, Rockford Fosgate, Boss, Diamond Audio, or Aquatic AV, covered on our aftermarket radios page. Both work across the lineup, including the Road King Classic and Road King Police.
Round out either setup with a HogPlay Media Box for streaming music and navigation, or a USB Piglet for wired Mirror Link or AirPlay. These Road Kings don't need a headset bypass — the whole fix happens at the head unit.
