The 2017 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic carries the King's signature formula: laced wheels, leather-wrapped hard saddlebags, a wide whitewall look, and a windshield-and-fairing setup built for long miles rather than infotainment screens. It's also the first model year the Road King line runs the all-new Milwaukee-Eight 107, a bigger-breathing, smoother-running V-twin that replaced the old Twin Cam. What it never got was a factory display — so a 2017 Road King Classic rider wanting Apple CarPlay or Android Auto needs the bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen to add it.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2017 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Harley kept the Road King Classic's charm deliberately old-school for 2017: a detachable windshield, chrome, and that low, wide touring stance, all backed by the new Milwaukee-Eight 107's extra torque and improved cooling. What the dash never offered was a screen, so navigation and calls meant pulling out a phone at a stoplight.
The HogPlay Media Screen fixes that without touching the King's classic lines. It clamps to the handlebars in view of the rider, runs off a simple power-and-ground tap into the bike's electrical system, and stays reversible — nothing about the stock wiring or dash gets modified, so the bike goes back to stock in minutes if needed.
Bring true infotainment to a 2017 Road King Classic with the HogPlay Media Screen, a 7-inch bar-mount unit built around dual Bluetooth: one channel pairs to your phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, while the second streams audio out to an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A small onboard speaker keeps turn-by-turn prompts and light audio audible even without external speakers, and the whole housing is fully sealed and waterproof, built to shrug off rain, road grime, and everyday riding on this Road King.
