The 2008 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is the bike that needs no introduction — solid disc wheels, a bottle-cap headlight, and a silhouette that's been copied more than any cruiser in the business. The 2008 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. Underneath the chrome and the solid wheels, the 2008 Fat Boy is a stripped-down Softail — low seat, wide bars, and the Twin Cam 96 doing the work with a broader torque curve than the Twin Cam 88 it replaced. It's built for cruising, not connectivity, which is exactly the gap the HogPlay Media Screen closes.
Installation follows the bike's own layout: the screen clamps to the handlebar in easy view and reach, taps into a switched 12V power source and ground, and that's the whole wiring job. The mount is reversible, so it sits above or below the bars depending on how the Fat Boy's cockpit is set up, and nothing about the stock dash or switchgear has to change.
Every 2008 Fat Boy that adds the HogPlay Media Screen gains two independent Bluetooth channels — one paired to a phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the other free to feed an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth unit clipped to the bars. A small speaker built into the unit itself handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own, no extra wiring involved. The housing is fully sealed and waterproof, built rugged enough to shrug off rain, road grime, and vibration mile after mile.
