The 2005 Harley-Davidson Night Train is Softail minimalism at its rawest — flat black finishes, drag-style handlebars, and a solo seat built for one purpose: attitude on two wheels. Under that stripped-down stance sits the torque-heavy Twin Cam 88 big twin, giving the Night Train its signature low-end pull. What it never had from the factory was a stereo. HogPlay's 7-inch bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen fixes that, bolting straight to those drag bars and adding wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with zero factory wiring to hack.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2005 Harley-Davidson Night Train left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2005 Harley-Davidson Night Train and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2005 Harley-Davidson Night Train

Introduced in 1999, the Night Train carved out its own lane in the Softail lineup as the blacked-out bobber alternative to Harley's chrome-heavy cruisers, and the 2005 model carries that same low, lean silhouette on the classic Softail chassis with its hidden rear shocks. The Twin Cam 88 delivers the torque this bike was built around, but the cockpit stays analog — no display, no navigation, no phone connection.

HogPlay's screen mounts to the handlebars in the rider's sightline, taps into the bike's power and ground for a clean 12V hookup, and reads upright whether it's clamped above or below the bars — install it once, flip the orientation later if you change your mind.

Dual Bluetooth sets the HogPlay Media Screen apart: one channel pairs your phone for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, the other feeds an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A built-in speaker still handles turn-by-turn voice prompts and light audio on its own, keeping the 2005 Night Train covered even without those extras. The housing is fully sealed and waterproof, built rugged enough for anything the road throws at it.
