About 2005 Motorcycles
2005 sat near the end of Harley's long run of simple analog touring radios — a basic AM/FM tuner, a couple of speakers in the fairing, no digital anything. Every non-touring model that year, from Softail to Dyna to Sportster, shipped with a completely bare dash where sound was concerned. Portable radios and aftermarket speakers were the only real workaround available at the time.
Twenty years later, a 2005 Harley-Davidson gets wireless CarPlay one of two ways: swap in an aftermarket CarPlay radio behind the touring fairing, or clamp on a 7-inch Media Screen for anything that never had a factory radio to replace. Wiring on either kit taps into the existing harness rather than replacing it outright, keeping the swap fully reversible down the road.
