The 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe leans hard into 1950s-inspired style — skirted fenders, whitewall tires, and chrome trim riding on the Softail's hidden rear suspension, all powered by the counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B big twin that smooths out the classic thump for long, easy-riding miles. What the Deluxe never got from the factory is a screen: no navigation, no phone mirroring, just analog gauges under that retro dash. The fix is the 7-inch HogPlay Media Screen, a bar-mounted unit that brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to this 2005 Deluxe without touching its vintage look.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Harley introduced the Deluxe as its own nameplate in 2005, pairing the Softail's smooth-ride chassis with fat whitewalls, a leather solo-with-passenger seat, and just enough chrome to read as vintage without feeling like a costume. The Twin Cam 88B underneath is the counterbalanced version Harley built specifically for Softails, trading a bit of the Big Twin's classic shake for smoother highway miles — a good match for a bike meant to be ridden, not just polished for shows.
Since the Deluxe carries none of that retro character into its electronics, the HogPlay Media Screen mounts cleanly to the handlebars where it's easy to see and reach at a stoplight. Installation is straightforward: run power and ground to the battery or an accessory line, connect the unit, and it's live. It's fully reversible too, so nothing about the bike's original 2005 wiring or dash gets permanently altered.
2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe CarPlay & Android Auto — FAQ
Does the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
The 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe left the factory with no radio or touchscreen, so it cannot run CarPlay on its own. A bar-mounted HogPlay Media Screen adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation and streaming to the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe.
How do I get wireless Android Auto on the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe?

The HogPlay Media Screen on the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe is a self-contained media center: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus navigation, music and apps on the handlebars.
Is the HogPlay install on the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe plug-and-play and reversible?
Yes. Every HogPlay upgrade for the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe is true plug-and-play — a simple electrical connection with no cutting, splicing or flashing, and it's fully reversible. Setup is easy; exactly how you reach the connector varies by bike (USB adaptors plug straight in, while some radio-mounted bypasses need brief fairing or radio access).
Do I need a bypass to add Android Auto to the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe?

Is Android Auto on the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe wireless?
Yes — the HogPlay Media Screen runs Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the 2005 Harley-Davidson Deluxe fully wireless; pair your phone once over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
