The 2005 Harley-Davidson 1200 Roadster is the Sportster line's sport-tuned outlier — cast wheels, dual coil-over shocks, and mid-mount controls set up for flicking through corners rather than cruising the boulevard, with the air-cooled Evolution 1200 (1,202cc) doing the work under a blacked-out, minimalist frame. What it doesn't have is any factory radio or display — bare bars, full stop. The fix is the 7-inch HogPlay Media Screen, a bar-mounted unit that bolts straight onto that stripped cockpit.

No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen

The 2005 Harley-Davidson 1200 Roadster left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

We also stock universal parts that fit the 2005 Harley-Davidson 1200 Roadster and most other motorcycles — standalone CarPlay screens and universal USB power.

About the 2005 Harley-Davidson 1200 Roadster

By its second model year, the 1200 Roadster had settled into its role as the firmest-handling Sportster Harley-Davidson offered — sportier suspension travel, a flatter bar, and a stance built for leaned-over riding rather than laid-back touring. The trade-off for that focused, no-frills setup is a cockpit with nothing to plug into: no gauges beyond the essentials, no speaker, no way to run navigation or music.

The HogPlay Media Screen drops into that gap without touching the Roadster's clean lines. It clamps to the existing bar, taps into a power and ground wire for juice, and pairs wirelessly with your phone for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto — no head unit, no dash cutting, no antenna. The built-in speaker handles audio right at the bars, and since the install is just power and ground, it comes off just as easily if you ever want the bike back to stock.

Firmer suspension and dual discs made the 2005 1200 Roadster the sportiest Sportster of its day, and the HogPlay Media Screen keeps pace with genuinely useful tech rather than clutter. It runs dual Bluetooth at once — wireless CarPlay or Android Auto to your phone, and simultaneously an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or portable speaker. A small built-in speaker still delivers voice prompts solo when that's all you need. The housing is fully sealed, waterproof, and rugged enough to handle the Evolution 1200's open-road, all-weather riding.
