The 2004 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide carries the raked-out front end, wide-set triple trees, and low drag-bar stance that made the FXDWG the factory-chopper blueprint of its era, its air-cooled Twin Cam 88 thumping out that trademark long-and-low pull. What it never got from the factory is a screen — 2004 riders navigated by memory, paper maps, and mile markers. Bolt on the HogPlay Media Screen, a 7-inch bar-mounted display, and this Wide Glide finally gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without disturbing its stripped-down lines.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2004 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

Wide Glide riders bought the FXDWG for its stretched fork angle and lean, chopper-inspired profile, not for gadgetry — the 2004 lineup kept things simple: Twin Cam 88, five-speed, and a stance built for open two-lane miles. That simplicity is exactly why the HogPlay screen fits so well. It clamps to the handlebars in the cockpit, tucking in near the risers without crowding the drag bars, then runs just two wires — one to power, one to ground — for a clean tap into the existing harness.
Because the mount is fully reversible, none of the Wide Glide's factory look, resale value, or original wiring gets altered. Pull the screen and the bike is back to stock in minutes, so upgrading the ride doesn't mean compromising the bike.
