The 2004 Harley-Davidson lineup splits cleanly into two audio situations. Touring models — Road Glide, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra, CVO, and Road King — carry a factory legacy AM/FM head unit mounted in the fairing, years before Harman Kardon or any touchscreen. Softail, Dyna, and Sportster-based cruisers grouped under Softail & Cruiser skip a factory stereo entirely, leaving a bare dash with nothing to upgrade from.
