The 2004 Harley-Davidson V-Rod arrived as the drag-strip-bred outlier in Harley's lineup — a stretched, low-slung power cruiser built around the liquid-cooled Revolution 1130cc V-twin co-developed with Porsche, a motor that spun to redline speeds no air-cooled Big Twin of the era could touch. Blacked-out finishes, a massive 240mm rear tire, and a radically raked front end gave the V-Rod a look unlike anything else on the showroom floor. What it never got was a factory stereo. The fix: bolt on the HogPlay Media Screen, a 7-inch bar-mounted display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
No Factory Radio — Add Your Own Screen
The 2004 Harley-Davidson V-Rod (VRSCB-98) left the factory with no radio, stereo or touchscreen to bypass — so instead of a workaround, you add your own. A standalone HogPlay Media Screen is a 7-inch head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, live Maps & Waze navigation, calls and streaming built in — we recommend the Screen 7 Pro with its onboard DVR drive-cam. Most riders settle for Bluetooth-only kits that leave the phone in your pocket with no turn-by-turn directions; this puts it all on the bars instead. It mounts to the handlebars with basic power and ground and comes off just as easily, so reach out to the HogPlay team if you'd like a hand. (Media Box support on Screens is in development.)

The V-Rod's Revolution engine redefined what a Harley could rev to, and the VRSC platform's drag-racing pedigree traces straight back to Harley's factory-backed competition program. Every V-Rod left the factory with clean, uncluttered bars and no provision for audio or navigation — the drag-strip look was the point, not a stereo fairing cluttering the front end. The HogPlay Media Screen closes that gap without disturbing the stock lines. It clamps to the handlebar, taps into a 12-volt power source with a simple positive/negative wire, and grounds to the frame — no cutting into the wiring harness, no dash surgery.
Because the mount and wiring are fully reversible, a 2004 V-Rod owner can run modern connectivity today and return the bike to stock spec at any point down the road.
Riders adding the HogPlay Media Screen to a 2004 VRSCB get two independent Bluetooth channels — one paired to the phone for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, the other free to feed an auxiliary amp, handlebar speakers, or a portable Bluetooth speaker. A built-in speaker handles turn-by-turn prompts and light audio on its own. The whole unit is fully sealed and waterproof, built to shrug off rain, road grime, and vibration on any V-Rod.
