2001 Road Glide CarPlay Upgrade, Standard and Sidecar

Two 2001 Road Glide builds are covered here: the standard Road Glide and the Road Glide with Sidecar (FLTRI). Nothing changed on the audio side between the two model years — both still ran the exact same pre-CarPlay legacy radio deck tucked behind that frame-mounted fairing.

About 2001 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Models

Year over year, Harley didn't touch the Road Glide's electronics between 2000 and 2001 — the fairing-mounted AM/FM/weatherband deck carried straight through, and the FLTRI sidecar variant used the identical unit. If you're cross-shopping model years, the fitment and the upgrade path here are functionally the same as last year's bike; the only difference is cosmetic trim and graphics package.

That consistency actually helps: an aftermarket CarPlay radio sized for the Road Glide fairing fits the 2001 model exactly as it fits 2000 and later years, so there's no guesswork on part compatibility. A bar-mounted Media Screen remains the no-dash-surgery alternative for either the solo Road Glide or the Road Glide with Sidecar (FLTRI), whichever configuration you happen to be riding this season.
